Science & Technology

I am honored to be appointed as chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the Science, Space, and Technology Committee by Chairman Babin in the 119th Congress. I am grateful for his trust in me as I continue the work to bring oversight and accountability to this body. I look forward to working with NASA, the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and many other leaders in this arena.
I also serve as a member of the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee and am dedicated to maintaining American leadership in space in an era of global competition. We must strive to achieve ambitious lunar exploration goals. The Artemis initiative is a key part of this effort, paving the way for sustained human presence on the Moon, and eventually, Mars.
Additionally, I am committed to ensuring America remains a global leader in scientific research and innovation. My medical background gives me a unique insight into the needs of the scientific research community. With this perspective, I am co-leading the Nucleic Acid Screening for Biosecurity Act, an essential step toward strengthening our biosecurity through innovative, research-based solutions. This bill gives the biotechnology sector the tools to manage risks effectively, without slowing down innovation or weakening America’s global leadership in biotech.
