Thank you for your interest in the U.S. Service Academies. Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
United States Military Service Academy Checklist
- Candidate Application-Complete the application packet below
- Photo- Please submit passport style photo.
- Standardized Test Results- Sat and/or ACT scores must be submitted with your application packet.
- Academic Transcript- Official Transcripts must be in a sealed envelope.
- Resume- Please submit a resume outlining your extracurricular activities.
- Letters of Recommendation. Each applicant is required to submit three letters of recommendation.
- Essay- Each applicant is required to submit a completed essay on why the student would like to attend a Service Academy.
Deadline: Completed application packets must be received by October 24th by 5 pm to our Cumming office or can be emailed to Vesna Kurspahic at vesna.kurspahic@mail.house.gov.

Students who are selected for an interview with Congressman McCormick’s non-partisan Service Academy Board will be notified by email the second week in November. All interviews will be conducted on December 6th, at the Gwinnett Tech campus in Alpharetta. Interviews will ONLY be cancelled or rescheduled in cases of emergencies.

Representative McCormick may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district.
