Congressman McCormick Amends Parents Bill of Rights to Protect Families

March 27, 2023

Washington--Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA-06) offered two amendments to H.R. 5, The Parents Bill of Rights. His legislation ensures that moms and dads know what is happening in public classrooms and have the ability to publicly address their school board with concerns.

"With my amendments, the Parental Bill of Rights puts parents in the driver's seat and makes students the priority, not bureaucracy or administrators," said Rep. McCormick. "My legislation establishes the right of parents to be informed about, and consent to, their child's participation in any non-curriculum events or activities. It also guarantees parents the opportunity to appear before their school board if their rights have been violated. Around the country, concerned moms and dads have been silenced, thrown out, or threatened when standing up for their children. That stops today. Our revolution of school choice and parental rights will help millions of families."
