National Security & Defense

After over 20 years on active duty in our nation’s military, I’m committed to our national defense and will tirelessly support our warfighters. President Reagan was entirely correct when he said that “war comes not when the forces of freedom are strong, but when they are weak.” While our adversaries work to undermine us and our influence abroad, the best way we can ensure peace is by maintaining the most powerful military the world has ever seen.

Our adversaries, particularly China, are in a race to build up their forces and develop superior military technology. China is moving quickly to build up its navy, deploy hypersonic missiles, and amass huge drone swarms to give itan edge in a future conflict. Our most important national security mission is to counter  China, which requires significant investments in new defense technologies. We must ensure our military remains entirely focused on this mission, rather than being distracted by radical ideologies that divide us. Like we said in the Marine Corps, we all wear green and we all bleed red.

I am excited to continue serving on the House Armed Services Committee and working with colleagues on the Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces and the Subcommittee on Cyber, Information Technologies, and Innovation. Together, we will continue to ensure peace through strength and use the annual National Defense Authorization Act to support our warfighters.
