Rep. McCormick Leads Bipartisan Group of 104 House Members to Hold President Joe Biden Accountable for His Delaying of Munitions and Weapons Shipments to Israel

May 13, 2024

WASHINGTON - Representative Rich McCormick (GA-06) leads a bipartisan group of 104 House members to hold President Joe Biden accountable for his delaying of munitions and weapons shipments to Israel.

“President Joe Biden’s appeasement of the Hamas wing of his party and continued weakness on the world stage is emboldening our adversaries. This afternoon, I sent a bipartisan letter to President Biden with 104 of my colleagues to demand the President give us answers as to why he is holding up critical weapon shipments to Israel in their war against an evil terrorist organization. These continued, purposeful delays are not only hurting Israel but are showing the rest of our allies around the world that with enough pressure, the U.S. will abandon them, too. Make no mistake; this is nothing more than an attempt by the administration to win over votes in the upcoming election by turning our back on our most important ally in the Middle East in their time of need. President Biden must make it clear that the U.S. stands with Israel and ensure that Israel has everything it needs to finish off Hamas. Now more than ever, America must show leadership and strength on the world stage.” said Congressman Rich McCormick.

“Joe Biden doubled down on his dangerous anti-Israel policies that put US national security at risk. Biden is undermining Israel by withholding munitions needed to target Hamas. In defiance of Congress, Biden’s decision greenlights Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran to escalate attacks following his failed foreign policy of appeasement. Joe Biden has put the security and very existence of our most precious ally Israel at risk due to his desperate attempt to salvage his plummeting polling. Joe Biden is prioritizing appeasing the pro-Hamas base of the Democrat Party over returning American and Israeli hostages and supporting Israel’s right to exist,” said Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.

Congress has made its will abundantly clear: Israel should receive the support it needs to return the hostages — which include American citizens — and prevent another attack by Hamas terrorists,” said Congressman Jared Golden.

"Congress approved emergency aid to Israel and fully expected the aid would be delivered swiftly," said Bost. "Now, Biden's slow-rolling weapons to Israel while using American taxpayer dollars to build a pier in Gaza. His actions hurt Israel and help the terrorist organization, Hamas. This is failed leadership on, literally, a global scale. The American people deserve answers as to why Biden is withholding critical aid to our strongest partner in the Middle East," said Congressman Mike Bost.

“As someone who was recently in Israel, on the border with Gaza, I understand the gravity of the situation. The White House’s decision to halt weapons shipments to Israel is deeply concerning. As Israel, our greatest ally in the Middle East, seeks to save hostages and eradicate Hamas from the region, America must provide them with any and all resources necessary to finish the mission. I urge President Biden and Secretary Austin to immediately remove the blockade and resume shipments to Israel. The future of the region depends on it,” said Congressman Mark Alford.

Congressman McCormick was joined by Representatives: Aderholt, Alford, Allen Amodei, Armstrong, Babin, Bacon, Baird, Balderson, Banks, Bergman, Bice, Bilirakis, Bost, Bucshon, Burgess, Carey, Carl, Carter, Chavez-DeRemer, Cline, Cloud, Clyde, Crenshaw, Curtis, De La Cruz, D'Esposito, Donalds, Duarte, Duncan, Dunn, Edwards, Ezell, Fallon, Feenstra, Finstad, Fischbach, Fitzgerald, Fitzpatrick, Fleischmann, Franklin, Fry, Fulcher, Garbarino, Golden, Gonzales, Guthrie, Hinson, Houchin, Hudson, Hunt; Jackson, Ronny; James; Johnson, Dusty; Joyce, Kean; Kelly, Mike; Kiggans, Kiley, LaHood, LaLota, Lamborn, Langworthy, Latta, Lawler, Letlow, Loudermilk, Mast, Meuser, Miller, Mills, Moolenaar, Nehls, Newhouse, Norman, Nunn, Palmer, Pfluger, Posey, Reschenthaler, Rodgers, Roy, Salazar; Scott, Austin; Self; Smith, Adrian; Stauber, Stefanik, Steube; Tenney, Claudia; Thompson, Glenn; Timmons, William; Valadao, Van Drew, Van Duyne, Van Orden, Wagner, Walberg, Waltz, Weber, Westerman, Williams, Brandon; Wilson, and Yakym.
