Congressman McCormick Votes to Pass H.R. 22, The SAVE Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Rich McCormick proudly voted to pass H.R. 22, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a bill he co-sponsored alongside original sponsor Rep. Chip Roy of Texas. The SAVE Act upholds the constitutional principle that voting in federal elections is a right reserved to American citizens and American citizens only.
“As your representative, I hear your concerns loud and clear: voter fraud and election interference are real issues that demand action,” said Congressman McCormick. “In my district, constituents have repeatedly raised alarms about the integrity of our elections—and I agree that even one illegal ballot is one too many. That’s why I support the SAVE Act: it’s a smart, targeted solution to enforce existing laws and protect the power of your vote.”
The SAVE Act would require states to verify citizenship for federal elections by strengthening voter registration processes. It empowers states to remove non-citizens from voter rolls and holds those who knowingly attempt to register ineligible individuals accountable. The identification requirements are straightforward and secure: to vote, individuals must present a valid form of ID such as a REAL ID, U.S. passport, military ID, or another government-issued identification from a federal, state, or tribal authority.
“The SAVE Act isn’t about politics—it’s about principles,” McCormick continued. “It strengthens our republic by enforcing the law and ensuring every legal vote counts.”
